Senator Angelia Williams Graves Issues Statement After Taking Oath of Office & Announces Committee Assignments
NORFOLK, VA – Today Senator Angelia Williams Graves issued the followed statement after being sworn in as the City of Norfolk’s State Senator:
“In the long, complicated history of our Commonwealth, never before have we seen a freshman class like this one – truly representative of Virginia, diverse in race, age, gender, and ideology. As I took the oath of office on this historic day, I was reminded about how far we’ve come, the sacrifices others made to afford someone who looks like me the opportunity to serve in the Virginia Senate, and the immense responsibility we have to our constituents and the Commonwealth at large.”
To the people of Norfolk: thank you for placing your trust in me. Know that as long as I have the privilege to serve, I will always center your voices, your struggles, and your concerns in Richmond. My door is and always will be open and I look forward to doing good work on your behalf for you these next four years.”
